Join us in preparing every needful thing.

Our Mission

We are passionate about being ready…for whatever may come our way. Neighbors helping neighbors, that’s what we’re all about. We strive to build unity among our neighbors by loving and taking care of one other. In a disaster situation we may need to rely on the strength of our community to survive.

“The 2020 fire in our hills was an awakening…NOW is the time to be ready.”

- Resident (who had to evacuate with her 4 week old baby! Whilst she and her associate volunteer neighborhood emergency preparedness specialist were calling/texting Zone Captains to go knock doors to be sure everyone was awake and evacuating!)

What We’ve Achieved

  • We’ve created a Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Plan. Big THANK YOU to Chad Martin and Jacqueline Winn for overseeing this. Thank you to ALL who have helped. It’s true, one of the best things about living here is the wonderful neighbors. Thank you to our original Zone Captains who jumped right in and helped save the day during the June 2020 fire.

  • Current Emergency Preparedness Committee: Michael Carlson Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Stacey Robins, Nicole Hansen, Janice Jackson, & Craig Lasson.

  • Big THANK YOU to our 2021 Breakfast & Prep Expo event committee: Jacqueline Winn, Stacey Robins, Matthew Jeppson, Nicole Hansen, Janice Jackson, Craig Lasson, Shauna Miner, Matt Tyler, Teri Williams & Taylor Smith.

  • We created a 6 Month Emergency Prep Blitz - with a focus for each month. Check out the Prep Expo (our kickoff event) tab for the monthly videos, printables and more! Special thanks to Benjamin Peterson, Matthew Jeppson, and Craig Lasson.

  • We’ve put together hard copy emergency packets - which include the Emergency Preparedness Plan and the laminated green/yellow/red sheets. Claim your new or replacement packet by asking your Zone Captain or emailing 1CanyonHills@gmail.com

  • We’ve produced a Zone Map, and organized Zone Captains for each Zone.

  • We’ve developed relationships with our local Fire Department. Big THANK YOU to Brian Sump for leading the C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team program. Thank you to Tony Strickland for being our go-to C.E.R.T. man. Please consider signing up to become a C.E.R.T. volunteer.

  • We’ve developed relationships with our local Police Department. Shout out to Sergeant Southwick who meets with our Neighborhood Watch Group each quarter. (Link to Neighborhood Watch Page coming soon!)

  • Each spring we’ve run an annual Group Water Storage Sign-Up for the Blue 55 Gallon Water Barrels .

  • We’ve initiated in-home visits to help you with your food/water/gear inventory by our Volunteer Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Specialists, they can assist you with your household preparedness: especially water storage and food storage helps and recommendations. We’ve also partnered with Prep7, a company that will do a free in-home food storage inventory and offers competitive pricing for long-term food storage items.

  • Each spring we send out 2 surveys, the results of which help our Zone Captains and local Fire & Police know of any individuals who may need extra help and care during an emergency:
